Melissa Hiatt Tidwell, or “Missy” as she was fondly known, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 14, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family, she was 52.
She was born to Jim Hiatt and Kathy (Cochran) Hiatt on October 26, 1968, in Sedalia, Missouri.
Missy met the love of her life Jeff Tidwell, while in college, and reconnected with him in 2010, moving to Broken Bow. She loved McCurtain County and felt very blessed to live in this area. Missy was passionate about playing tennis and was ranked 38th in the nation in 1991. She attended Southwestern Baptist University on a 100 percent scholarship. Missy worked for the Missouri Department of Mental Health for 20 years, in Sedalia, MO. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Missy loved her Facebook friends and shared her love for Jesus with them.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Hiatt; father-in-law, Royce Tidwell; grandparents, Lee and Dorothy Cochran and Jewel and Hayes Hiatt.
Missy is survived by the love of her life, Jeff Tidwell, of the home; her mother, Kathy Hiatt; children, Jacob Comfort, of Broken Bow, and Blade Tidwell and wife, Brenae, of Tahlequah, OK; brother, Matt Hiatt, of Wichita, KS; very special friend, Barbie Bohanan, of Eagletown; mother-in-law, Mary Tidwell, of Broken Bow; niece, MyKayla Angel, of Broken Bow; as well as, a host of other family and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday, July 16, 2021, at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow, OK, with Rev. Clark Rather officiating. Interment will follow at the Hochatown Cemetery.
