Orvel Evert Barrick, son of Alexander Martin Barrick and Mamie Barrick, was born on March 21, 1933, in McCurtain County, OK., and departed this life August 1, 2024, at his home in Joaquin, TX., as he wanted, with his granddaughter Jennifer Adams by his side.
Orvel went into the Army in 1953 and served until 1955. He then married Mary Beatrice Sizemore and they had four children: David Lynn Barrick, Orvel Elven Barrick, Tami Darlean Barrick Welch (Ross), and Roxanne Barrick Bonomini (Kenny). Orvel’s family always came first. He loved spending time with them going on picnics to Redwood Valley, taking them to visit family and providing for them. He spent long hard hours working at Louisiana Pacific and Georgia Pacific working his way up to becoming a supervisor. Orvel’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, and he was a king of checkers. He also liked cooking and making wine. He enjoyed spending time with his friends telling jokes and stories. Orvel is at peace now and he will be laid to rest next to Mary Beatrice Barrick and their son Orvel Elven Barrick at Sherwood Cemetery, McCurtain County, OK.
Orvel is survived by his great-grandchildren; Michaelyn and Nevaeh Adams, grandchildren, Alyson, Garth and Brynna Bonomini, Laura and Kelly Welch. Orvel will be missed by family, relatives and friends who loved him and spent time with him.
