Paulette Hanks, age 72, of Golden, Oklahoma, was surrounded by family when she peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 21, 2022. She was born on September 23, 1949, to Eugene Woodland and Audrey Campbell.
Above all things, Paulette was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother. She believed that the blessing of motherhood was her highest priority, as was evident in the way she devoted her life to her home, children, and grandchildren. Paulette had a laugh and an unstoppable manner for telling stories that could be heard a mile away. She would often say that she did not speak much as a child and was making up for lost time. She had a fondness for purchasing and making small gifts for others, as gift giving was her love language. Throughout her life she served in many roles such as bank teller, child nutrition worker, church choir member, church ministries volunteer, and homemaker. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and loved her Sunday School Class as well as her church family, friends, and family members.
She is preceded in death by both her beloved parents and stepparents.
She leaves to cherish her memory her faithful husband of 54 years, Paul Hanks; her daughters, Lora Hendrix (Phillip “Ryan”) of Morrilton, Arkansas; Lisa Harkey (Nathan) of Patrick Springs, Virginia; five grandchildren Samuel “Dylan” Harkey, Ethan Harkey, Zoey Harkey, Garrett Hendrix, Loryn “Grace” Hendrix; sister “Marty” Knight; brother Chad Woodland; and numerous beloved family members and lifelong friends. She had a special place in her heart for her two nephews who grew up next door on the Hanks family’s H-5 ranch, Travis (Crystal) Hanks and Luke (Ashlei) Hanks.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Crown Hill Cemetery Fund (care of Broken Bow First Baptist Church for keeping of the grounds), the Broken Bow First Baptist Church Fellowship Class mission fund (care of Broken Bow First Baptist Church), or the Baptist Home for Girls in Madill, Oklahoma.
