Peggy “Storey” Long, a lifelong resident of McCurtain County, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, March 06, 2023 in Broken Bow, OK. She was born in Valliant, OK, the daughter of A.B. “Peck” and Lucy Bryant on March 23, 1930 and was united in marriage for over fifty years to Paul Storey on March 15, 1947 in Ashdown, AR. She later married Dalton Long.
Peggy worked for the Soil Conservation Service in her early years and then became longtime postmaster for the Wright City and Haworth Post Offices. She loved photography and when she retired from Federal service, she opened Storey Photography in the Pleasant Hill Community.
Peggy was a member of the Wright City Methodist Church and later the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and loved playing the piano while attending both. Peggy always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and sister Roberta “Jean” Owens.
Peggy is survived by her daughters, Susan Storey of Wright City, OK and Paula McKinney of Valliant, OK; son Jon Storey and wife Rhonda of the Pleasant Hill Community; grandchildren, Phillip Speligene, Stacie Brown, Emily Hunt, Alan Speligene, Amy Slabaugh, Karl Heinrich, Jill Trapp, Christian Warren, Rachel Storey, and Hope Storey; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.
Funeral Services are set for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Victory Life Church, Broken Bow, OK with Pastor Lynn Tomlinson, Scott Storey and Chaplain David Kautt officiating.
