Phyllis Jean Sterling

Broken Bow resident, Phyllis Jean Sterling, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the age of 59.

The daughter of Donald Ray and Bobbye (Shaw) Hicks, Phyllis was born February 6, 1962, in Guymon, OK. She was a 1980 graduate of Valliant High School. After a few years, Phyllis started a family and after they were old enough, she decided to further her education. The medical field appealed to her, so she enrolled into a nursing program. Phyllis exceled and graduated as Valedictorian of her class. She spent over 30 years in a career she loved, working in various hospitals, clinics, as a travel nurse, throughout several states.

In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising flowers and listening to many different genres of music. But most of all, she adored her family, especially her grandchildren. Phyllis had a special needs granddaughter that she helped care for the last 14 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her, mother, Bobbye; brother, William Hicks and a niece, Lily Sterling.

Phyllis leaves to cherish her life, her husband of 10 years, Kevin; children, Clissa Ferguson and her husband, Jeremy, of Texarkana, AR, Diane Bissaillon and her husband, Matt, of Broken Bow, Mandy Cumpton and her husband, Tom, of Amsterdam, MO, Jacob Sterling and his wife, Bridgette, of DeSoto, KS, Megan Meyers and her wife, Donelle, of Vici, OK; father, Don Ray Hicks and his wife, Rhea, of Amarillo, TX; brother, Keith Hicks and his wife, Anita, of Idabel, OK; sister, Lisa Sterling and her husband, Greg, Mound City, KS; 10 grandchildren, Adisyn, Andrew, Layton, Ben, Josephine, Lauren, Luke, Isabel, Excel and Jared; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will be receiving friends and family from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.

A chapel service will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 10:00 AM, at the Bunch Singleton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Moran Cemetery.
