Randall Earl Whisenhunt, 81, affectionately known as Ron to those who knew him best, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, in Idabel, Oklahoma. Born on May 10, 1944, in Golden, OK to Jess and Pearl Whisenhunt.
Randall proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, working in the JAG office and motor pool. His commitment to service was a cornerstone of his character. Ron's work ethic and dedication were evident not only in his military service but also in his personal pursuits.
A devout Christian and member of the Baptist faith, Ron loved studying the Bible and he served as a deacon of the church in his early days where he would often lead Bible classes. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, running jug-lines, camping, and traveling with his beloved Charlene. A master at carpentry, he also had a unique talent for studying maps, often recalling any mile marker from memory. Family time was sacred to Ron. He treasured family dinners, where he often led prayer, and delighted in his famous Pecan Pie and Chicken and Dressing. Ron also took great pride in his land in Glover, where he raised Beefmaster Cattle. His commitment to his land and livestock was just another testament to his love for nurturing and growing things of value.
Ron was preceded in death by parents, Jess and Pearl Whisenhunt; brother, J.D. Whisenhunt; sisters, Lula Maye Bean, Josephine Bacorn, and Faye Sokalov.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, including his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Charlene Whisenhunt, whom he married on March 18, 1966. Their children, Danny and Karen Whisenhunt of Rusk, TX; Teresa Billy and Clint Slaton of Valliant, OK; and Kevin Whisenhunt of Broken Bow, OK; brothers, Bo and Georgia Whisenhunt of Golden, OK; Glen and Norma Whisenhunt of Rufe, OK; Jimmy Whisenhunt of Tyler, TX; and sister, Donna Lee Lovely of Tillamook, OR, will remember him fondly for his warmth and camaraderie.
