Ricky Wayne Smith Obituary

Ricky Wayne Smith “Smoke”, 62, passed away on November 4, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 14, 1961, in Talihina, OK to Carl and Martha Smith. He was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and deeply loved the Choctaw traditions.


Smoke spent much of his life outdoors, tending to his cows, maintaining his hay meadows, and looking after his garden. He also enjoyed keeping the pool up for the grandkids.  He was often found setting trot lines and took great pleasure in woodworking and hunting for arrowheads. A social man with a gift for gab, Smoke relished in discussing politics, joking around, and was known for giving everyone he knew a unique nickname. He loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.  Smoke was a member of Cedar Creek Church in Smithville, OK.


He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Smith, and his grandparents, Sherman King Smith and Dorsie Smith and grandson, Cy James.


He was a loving family man, cherished by his wife Connie Phillips, with whom he shared 30 years together; his mother, Martha Smith of Smithville, OK; his children, Brock of Bethel, OK; Raven and Mark of Smithville, OK; Jennifer and O’Neal of Watson, OK; Zath and Toni of Durant, OK; Scout and Blake of Haworth, OK; Kimberly of Bentonville, AR; Cali of Broken Bow, OK; and Chelsea of Artesia, NM; brother, Marty of Smithville, OK; and sister, Tamara and Mark of Broken Bow, OK; grandchildren, Keinan, Brody, Jraygan, Anna, Cruz, Auggie, Blaine, Zaylee, Shadda, Suede, Octavia, Stryder, London, Phoenix, Atticus, Atlas J, Sklar, Jasyn, Kalel, Jace, Ajah, Javion and Charlie; great-grandchild, Ollie; nieces, Shauna and Twauna of Durant, OK; Clancey of Ludlow, OK; Melody of Smithville, OK;  special friends Doug Rose and Jimmy Williams, alongside many other relatives and friends.


Visitation is set for Friday, November 8, 2024, from 6-8 P.M., at Cedar Creek Church in Smithville, OK.


Funeral Services are set for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Deer Ridge Retreat in Smithville, OK with Bro. Donnie Childers and Bro. Perry Martin officiating.  Interment will follow at Ludlow Cemetery.


A Celebration of Life will follow at Deer Ridge Retreat in Smithville, OK
