Robert Sullivan Obituary

Robert W. Sullivan, age 81, of Battiest, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, in Paris, Texas, after a lengthy illness.


Robert was born on February 10, 1944, in Clebit, Oklahoma, to Jefferson Curtison and Roxie Lavada Eeds Sullivan. He graduated from Battiest High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southeastern State University in Durant, Oklahoma.


From 1966 to 1968, Robert served his country in the United States Army, including a tour in Vietnam. After returning home, he became a charter member of the Atoka, Oklahoma EMT program and served as an ambulance driver while pastoring the Assemblies of God Church in Atoka.


Robert faithfully served as an Assemblies of God minister for 60 years, pastoring churches across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri. He also taught at Ozark Bible Institute and served as principal of Ozark Christian Academy in Neosho, Missouri.


In addition to his ministry and educational work, Robert dedicated 20 years to law enforcement with the Newton County Sheriff’s Department in Missouri, retiring in 2006. His service reflected his deep sense of duty and care for the people in his community.


He was truly a man of the community, known for his heart to serve and his unwavering love for God, family, community, and country. Whether he was in the pulpit, in the classroom, hunting in the woods, or feeding cattle, Robert was always where he felt called to be. He especially loved building things and was always ready to lend a hand wherever it was needed.


Robert was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Annita Jolene Tucker; two brothers, Calvin Sullivan and Melvin Sullivan; and one sister, Marvie Jolene.


He is survived by his loving wife, Natha, of the home; two daughters, LaRaeda Sullivan Womack and husband Levi of Battiest, and Roberta Black and husband Jonathan of Midlothian, Texas; one son, Jeffrey Curtis Sullivan and wife Jennifer of Battiest; three brothers, James Sullivan of Birmingham, Alabama, Pete Sullivan of Durant, Oklahoma, and Sam Sullivan of Huntsville, Texas; and one sister, Mary Mason of Ponca City, Oklahoma.


Robert was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to his life.


Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.


Funeral services will take place Monday, April 7, at 2:00 PM at Pickens Assemblies of God in Pickens, Oklahoma.


Burial will follow the service at the Battiest Oklahoma Cemetery.
