Royce Meek Obituary

Royce Edwin Meek, known as Royce, dad, pawpaw, little buddy and more to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Born on July 3, 1949, in Pickens, Oklahoma to Farris and Ozella (Morris) Meek, Royce's life was a tapestry of love, service, and adventure that spanned over seven and a half decades.

Royce lived a life that would have been considered successful by any measuring stick. Born in Pickens in a house made from torn down outhouses, Royce became a successful businessman, staying strong in his faith, being a great father, grandfather, wonderful husband, brother, friend and huge part of his community. But his true success was the impact he had on people’s lives. He truly had a gift for seeing the best in everyone he met. Not just his family but anyone he encountered. He has friends as far away as Panama mourning his passing.

Royce's professional life was marked by dedication and integrity. He owned and operated Royce Meek Insurance, serving the communities of Broken Bow, Idabel, and Atoka with distinction for many years. He served for many years on Board of American Farmers and Ranchers, wearing several different hats.  Secretary/Treasurer - General Manager Life Company and finally CEO.   Royce was a member of the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow for more than 40 years and a member of the Broken Bow First Assembly of God before that. Royce was a former president of the Lions Club, and the Chamber of Commerce was a respected member of the Broken Bow Masonic Lodge. He served as president of the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce in 1995 and was named Broken Bow Citizen of the Year by the Chamber in 1998. He graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1967 and served in the National Guard in 1969 and 1970.

Outside of his work and community service, Royce loved fishing, hunting, shooting, floating the river, surfing and new experiences. He especially loved sharing these experiences with his friends and family.

Royce found great joy in the simple pleasures of nature and connections with friends and family. Royce was strong in his faith and had the ability to see good in everybody. His approach to life was one of compassion and generosity, always looking for ways to uplift those around him. His unwavering faith and love for his family and friends, his integrity and his love for life shone through in everything he did.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Deborah Meek in 2015, and his parents, Farris and Ozella Meek.

His legacy continues through his beloved family, including his wife, Bonnie Holley Meek of the home; his children, Lance Royce Meek and Melissa Lynn of Bethany, OK; Cassandra Ray Meek of Broken Bow, OK; and stepdaughter, Lacy Campbell of Seattle, WA. Royce was a cherished brother to Monty Lee Meek and Jaylene of Broken Bow, OK; Ella Diane Graham and Mike Burke of Broken Bow, OK; and Meredith Lynn Smith and Jerril of Mt. Ida, AR; grandchildren, Jordan Jones, Drexel Meek, and Payton Meek, aunts, Donnie Sweet and Bonnie Martin, uncle, Gale Morris, friends who became family David and Barbara Stevenson and the many nieces, nephews, and relatives that found a friend in him.
