Russell Paul Westbrook went to his heavenly home on the evening of Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born in DeQueen, Arkansas on August 3, 1945, to parents Charles Dean “C. D.” Westbrook and Nina Holder Reese.
Russell lived most of his life in Oklahoma and Mena, Arkansas. He attended school and graduated from high school in Idabel, Oklahoma. Russell began his career in the automotive industry. He was the Parts Manager at Bob Carver Chevrolet in Mena, Arkansas, retiring after many years of service.
On September 5, 1998, Russell married Joyce Ann Wittges at The Holy City Chapel in Comanche County, Oklahoma. They resided in Mena, Arkansas and later moved to Fletcher, Oklahoma in 2018. Russell and Joyce spent many wonderful years together until her passing on August 4, 2020. As a longtime friend said, “Russell and Joyce complimented each other.” Their love and devotion to each other was a joy to witness.
Russell was saved on June 24, 1971, and baptized in Bethel Creek on July 11, 1971. He studied The Holy Bible and shared the word of God and his love of the Lord with everyone he knew. Russell was a Freemason and member of the Dallas Lodge 128 in Mena, Arkansas since 2005. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Russell loved movies, college football and collecting coins and other collectibles throughout the years. He was a friend to many people and was always full of kindness and generosity to all. He was a humble and Godly man who had compassion for everyone. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. There is peace and comfort knowing he is reunited with loved ones and in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. We can only imagine what an amazing and glorious sight this must have been for Russell as he entered the gates of heaven.
Russell was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joyce, his parents and his stepfather, Jim Reese.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Rita Westbrook and his brother, David Reese. Also left to cherish his memory are numerous family members and a host of friends. The family would like to thank the staff at The Green House Cottages of Homewood in Mena, Arkansas for the comfort and care they provided Russell during the past several months.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the Service.
Funeral Services are set for 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2024 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow, OK. Interment to follow at Tom Cemetery, Tom, OK.
