Ruth Ann Davis, lovingly known as “Momma Ruth,” passed away on May 5, 2026, in Paris, Texas, at the age of 81. Ruth was born on August 24, 1944, in Battiest, Oklahoma, to Jesse and Helen Brown, and from the very beginning, she lived life with energy, grit, humor, and a deep love for the people around her.
Ruth never met a stranger and rarely slowed down. For more than 30 years, she built a successful career as an agent with Farmers Insurance, where she became known for her hard work, honesty, and ability to make everyone feel like family. Retirement did not keep Ruth still for long. Alongside her husband Steve, she became part owner of R&S Trucking, helping build a business that transported utility poles across the region. Together, they created not only a successful business partnership, but a life full of adventure, laughter, and memories.
Ruth and Steve made their home along the beautiful Lower Mountain Fork River, a place that perfectly matched Ruth’s spirit — peaceful, lively, and full of beauty. She loved spending time outdoors, planting flowers, keeping a beautiful yard, and enjoying mornings by the river. But as much as she loved the river life, nothing compared to the love she had for her family.
When her granddaughters began playing sports, Ruth and Steve wasted no time buying a second home in Paris, Texas, so they could attend every possible game. Rain or shine, Ruth was there cheering loudly from the stands, proudly supporting her girls and celebrating every moment right alongside them. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the absolute center of her world, and she made sure they knew it every single day.
This past year brought Ruth tremendous joy as both of her granddaughters, Hannah and Kayla, became engaged. She was overjoyed to celebrate alongside them and was so excited to welcome their future husbands into the family. She looked forward to the weddings, the memories still to come, and seeing her family continue to grow.
Ruth was especially proud of the woman and mother her granddaughter Presley had become. She admired her strength, resilience, and determination in overcoming adversity, and nothing made Ruth happier than watching Presley build a loving life for her family and children.
Ruth loved to travel, especially in the motorhome with Steve, and she never turned down a good trip to Las Vegas with friends. She treasured lifelong friendships and had a gift for staying connected with the people she loved. If she could not visit in person, she made sure to pick up the phone for long conversations filled with stories, laughter, and probably a little gossip too. Ruth brought life into every room she entered and left people with memories they would hold onto forever.
Above all else, Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was proud of her family beyond words and never missed an opportunity to brag about them. Whether celebrating milestones, attending ball games, or simply spending time together, Ruth made every gathering feel special. Her strength, humor, generosity, and fierce love for her family will continue to live on through all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve Osborne; her parents, Jesse and Helen Brown; her son, Kirk Davis; grandson, Newt Davis; brothers, Dewayne and Jerry Brown; and infant triplets.
Ruth is survived by her son, Kevin Davis and wife Dianna; daughter, Tonya Barnhill and husband Read; grandchildren, Presley, Hannah, and Kayla; and great-grandchildren, Dawson, Jett, and Rhett, along with many extended family members and lifelong friends who will forever miss her laughter, her stories, and the love she gave so freely.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with burial at Battiest Cemetery in Battiest, Oklahoma.
