Obituary

Ruth O’Nita Nance, 86, of Wright City (Herndon Community) passed away August 6, 2022 at Memorial Heights Nursing Home in Idabel, OK.

Ruth was born December 9, 1935 in Valliant, OK to parents, Oscar and Nettie (James) Grabeel.

Ruth was a faithful Christian and member of the Green Chapel Assembly of God Church where she served as church secretary for over sixty years. She loved sewing, gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth was loved by her children and all that knew her. She had a great love for God, her church and community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Nettie Grabeel; brothers, Vernon Grabeel, Kelsie Grabeel and Everette Grabeel; sister, Elouise Halpain; son, Timothy Wade Carper; stepson, Donnie Nance; grandsons, Eric Carper and James Lee Wayne Carper and great-grandson, Taylor Hunter Carper.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her children, James Carper and wife, Sandy of Wright City, Clifton Carper of Garvin, Estel Carper and wife, Shelia of Holly Creek, Thomas Carper and wife, Barbara Ann of Broken Bow, daughter, JoAnn Rethman and husband, George of Idabel, Mike Carper and wife Rae of Wright City, daughter, Jeanette Wolf and husband, Billy Bob of Idabel, Dorothy Harkey and husband, Randall of Broken Bow, step-son, Joe Ben Nance and wife Karen of Valliant; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; special friends, Sonny Boy & Laveda Ellis; other family and a host of friends.
