Sammy Lee Lopez, Sr. completed his earthly journey on Friday, June 21, 2024 at the age of 39. He was born December 12, 1984 to Sammy and Lisa Lopez in Idabel, OK.

Sammy was of the Baptist faith. He was a 2003 graduate of Broken Bow High School.  He was assistant coach at the Middle School from 2015-2021. He and his family later moved to Idabel where he was head baseball and softball coach. He coached his team to Regional Champs for the first time since 1921. He was a dedicated and compassionate person and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by Dorothy Hester “Mamaw Dot”; brother, Calvin Woods; maternal and paternal grandparents; and mother-in-law, Rita Young.

Sammy leaves to cherish his memory his loving spouse of twenty-two years, Karess Ayers; sons, Sammy “Three” Lopez, Jr. and Matrail Lopez; daughter, Jaylee Lopez and Mercades Lopez; parents, Sammy and Lisa Lopez; brother, Tevin Woods; sister, Matlea Welch; brothers-in-law, Antwon Ayers and Eric Young; sisters-in-law, Shaniquia Ayers and Lakeshia Mack; aunts, Renisa, Cathy, Margie and Carrie; uncle, Jason; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2024 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow, OK.

Funeral Services are set for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Idabel High School Auditorium, Idabel, OK . Internment to follow at Lukfata Cemetery, Broken Bow, OK.
