Sandra Darlene Newsom Obituary

Sandra Darlene Newsom passed away on June 15, 2026, in Idabel, Oklahoma, at the age of 70. She was born on March 12, 1956, in Glover, Oklahoma, the daughter of F.E. and Effie (Westbrook) Jackson.


On January 26, 1974, Darlene married Randy Newsom. From that union came two sons, Brian and Chris, who were among her greatest joys. Darlene embraced her role as a wife and mother with unwavering dedication, and her family remained the center of her world throughout her life.


Darlene worked at Weyerhaeuser (IP) until her retirement. She was known as a dependable and hardworking employee who took pride in doing her job well.


Faith was an important part of Darlene’s life, and she attended church at Springs of Light Church in Glover, Oklahoma. Her faith gave her comfort, strength, and fellowship, and it was a source of encouragement throughout her journey.


Darlene loved traveling and going on vacation, and she especially enjoyed time away with family and friends. She also enjoyed going to the casino and attending concerts. One of her greatest pleasures was being with her sister, and she cherished the time they spent together. She was a woman who loved deeply, cared faithfully, and made a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know her.


She is preceded in death by her husband, Randy Newsom; her granddaughter, Hollyn Allensworth; her sisters, Kathy Rowan and husband Johnny and Phyliss Bray; and her brother, Bobby Jackson.


Darlene is survived by her children, Brian Newsom (Irene), Chris Newsom, and Francis Griffin (Self); her grandchildren, Bayln Newsom (Taylor), Bodee Newsom, London Newsom, Trevor, Jase, and Liam; and her great-grandson, Aiken Newsom; her sisters, Vicky Sullivan (Curtis), YaVonne Prince (Wayne), Janiece Young, and Joan Caldwell;  her brothers, Steve Jackson (Tammy), Roy Jackson (Joyce), and Leon Jackson; her bonus kids, Steven Meir, Drew Allensworth, Richard and Pasha Palmer; her bonus mom, Shirley Prince; a host of bonus sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.


Graveside Services are set for 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Garvin, OK
