On July 25, 1979, baby girl Gammons, was born in McAlester, Oklahoma. On October 11, 1979, baby girl Gammons officially became Sara Elizabeth Cox when she was adopted and welcomed into the home of Bruce and Sue Cox by her new older sister Jill Cox.

Sara never learned to crawl like other babies. The day she first sat up, she also stood up and there was no slowing down. Her life was spent reaching for the next star.

With a huge sense of humor, she loved to play jokes on others, however, she could not take a joke.  As example, Sara enjoyed placing “Poppers”(a type of fireworks that popped when its strings were pulled) on doors to startle the one that opened that door.  It was funny until her Aunt did the same thing to her one morning.  

Sara attended all her school years in Beaver, Ok. graduating class of 1997 as an Honor Student. In school Sara was active in band where she played many brass instruments with the trumpet being her primary instrument. After graduating she attended NW Oklahoma State University where she played in the college band. It was there she earned her “Mrs.” degree when she met and married Neil Campbell.  That union led to her highest degree that of “mother” and later “soccer Mom”.

After moving to the Oklahoma City area Sara attended Para-Medic school graduating from Metro-tech.  She worked a short time as a paramedic before burn-out set in.  After that, Sara entered the retail sales arena.  Her most recent job was telemarketing for a health insurance company.

In life, Sara had several passions, Music being one. She learned piano at a young age. Being a night person, she would play late at night and into the early mornings. Many times, her parents went to sleep to the sound of “November Rain” being played on the piano. 

Another passion was animals.  Sara had a way with all animals.  During her growing up years, she had a variety of pets beyond the normal household pets, to include mud puppies, rabbits, and a tarantula (named Chris) that slept with her.  As a little toddler, Sara picked up and kissed a wasp, without getting stung.

Sara loved flowers and found joy in making floral arrangements.  She could make beautiful arrangements from the most mundane items. She would pick flowers from the home flower beds to the chagrin of her father who preferred the flowers to remain outside in the flower beds. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, son, Tanner Campbell and Granddaughter Kaylen Campbell of Austin, TX, sister, Jill DeAnn (Robert) Cundell of Towanda, KS, paternal Grandmother, Eunice Cox of Haworth, OK. Nieces, Jordan Vap of Guthrie, Ok, Maddie Garrison of Beaver, Ok, Karley Anne (Tyler) Hedge of Stillwater, OK.  Plus, her biological family, numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends, and her four-legged fur baby Taiko.

Sara passed from her earthly father’s arms at her home in Beaver and into her heavenly FATHER’s arms on June 11, 2026.  Sara was welcomed into her heavenly home by her older sister Amy Cox, maternal Grandparents, Arvle and Violet Peevy, paternal Grandfather, Jessie Cox, Uncles Barney Ward, Sam Joiner and Peevy Uncles Daniel, Donald, and Roy.

Sara’s celebration of life will be held at The First Christian Church in Beaver Ok June 15, 2026 at 10AM with Nolan McFadden officiating.

 Graveside Services are set for 10:00 Am, Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Pine Top Cemetery, Broken Bow with David Hall Officiating.
