Sheryl Lea Williams Obituary

Sheryl Lea Gipson Williams of Broken Bow, OK, left this earth on Monday, April 15, 2024 to go to her Heavenly home. 

Sheryl was born in Clovis, NM, on November 29, 1963.  After Sheryl and her family moved to McCurtain county in 1973, she attended Lukfata elementary. Sheryl was a graduate of Broken Bow High School where she excelled in basketball and track and field. Sheryl won the individual state champion award for high jump at the 1981 Oklahoma Girls Track and Field state competition, setting a record for BBHS with her 5'4" high jump. 

In her youth Sheryl worked as a lifeguard during the summer seasons at Idabel Country Club and Beavers Bend State Park where she was a favorite.  People were drawn to Sheryl’s beauty and personality. Early in her career, Sheryl ran her own cleaning crew. She worked in retail and hospitality, most recently at Smith’s Good Eats restaurant in Broken Bow. She was held in high regard by her employers, customers, and friends. She was a loving and supportive mother who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was watching her grandkids play sports. 

Sheryl is survived by her two daughters:  Jennifer Jenkins Moore (Darren) of Broken Bow, OK; Whitney Richbourg Jones (Billy) of Panki Bok, OK; her son, Tanner Richbourg (Kaitlin) of Broken Bow, OK; nine grandchildren:  Aydin, Demi, and Draxxin of Broken Bow, OK; Collin, Parker, and Tracer of PankiBok, OK; and Karsyn, Breece, and Stone of Idabel, OK.  She is also survived by her mother: Geneva (Wilburn) Coleman of Kennewick, WA; two sisters:  Paula (Wilburn) Bean of Poteau, OK; Cynthia (Michael) Costa of Farmersville, TX; one brother: Danton (Theresa) Gipson of Forsyth, GA; three nieces: Michele (Bobby) Askins of Bixby, OK; Anna Skelton (Kyle) of Broken Bow, OK; and Michann (Blake) McGee of Poteau, OK; two nephews: Zachary (Chelsey) Costa of Wylie, TX; and Carson Gipson of Forsyth, GA; and her lifelong friends, Lisa Engler and Judy Harris. 

Sheryl is preceded in death by her father, Billie F. Gipson of Lukfata, OK. 

A visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Monday, April 22, 2024 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.
