Sidney Earl “Duke” Sams, age 60, of Broken Bow, passed from this life, January 3, 2021, in Idabel, Oklahoma.
Duke was born June 30, 1960, in Kansas City, MO, to Clay Burris and Delorse (Lightner) Burris.
Duke was a big jokester, who liked to kid around and joke with everyone. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and dominoes. Duke loved spending time with his kids, nieces, and nephews. He was of the Baptist faith.
Duke was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Delorse Burris; sister, Dorothy Benson; and close friend, Ron Pennon.
Duke is survived by his children, Quinton Sams, of Broken Bow, OK, Sydney Sams, of Hugo, OK, and Marcus Nolan, of Broken Bow, OK; brothers, Clayvern Sams, of Foreman, AR, Wesley Sams, of Phoenix, AZ, Reggie Burris, of DeQueen, AR, Patrick Burris and wife, Charlette, of Fayetteville, NC, and Clifton Burris, also of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Evonne Sikes, of Kansas City, MO and Tresa Burris, of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Zoie Sams and Hope Sams; nieces and nephews, Alexis Burris, Brittany Burris, Darius Grant, Ashley Sams, Jabari Sams,TerVonte’ Steele, Camara Roan, Carissa Burris, Marquette Burris, Precious Burris, Eugene Burris, Tee’Cee Burris, Zuri Burris, and Brooklynne Burris; as well as, many other family and friends.
Viewing for family and friends will be on Friday, January 8, 2021, from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the Eagletown Gym, with Rev. C.J. Cooper officiating, burial will follow at the Busy Bee Cemetery, in Eagletown, OK.
