Stephen Laird Meadows passed away on April 24, 2025, in Dallas, TX at the age of 73.  He was born on July 19, 1951, in Enid, OK to Thomas Wagner and Helen Laird Meadows.  He married Catherine Anne Schmitz on September 21, 2013, in Dallas, TX. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Meadows, his brother, Larry Alan Meadows, and his sister, Leah Jo Whitlock. 

Stephen is survived by his wife, Anne Meadows of their Dallas home; his mother, Helen Meadows of Broken Bow, OK;  his children Thomas Meadows of Dallas, TX, Micheal Schmitz of Dallas, TX, John Schmitz of Richardson, TX, Brian Schmitz of Akutan, AK, and Catherine Schmitz of Lewisville, TX; a brother Chris Meadows and his wife, Toni, of Carrollton, TX; grandchildren, Sabrina and Sally Schmitz; nieces Kristy Minton, Jennifer Whitlock, and Allyson Meadows; nephews Nicholas Whitlock, Eric Smoak, and Chase Meadows; and many other relatives and friends. 

Stephen’s professional life was marked by his exceptional dedication and work ethic.  He was known for his achievements as a salesman at Industrial Power, where he was honored with awards for being the top salesman in the Isuzu Trucks division. 

He was a 1969 graduate of Broken Bow High School. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dallas.  He enjoyed NASCAR and IRL Racing and always looked forward to NASCAR weekends.  He thoroughly enjoyed college sports, always cheering for his favorite team, the OU Sooners.  When he wasn’t watching NASCAR or OU sports, you could often find him in his recliner working on a crossword puzzle or playing with his beloved dogs. 

Funeral services are set for Friday, May 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Broken Bow, OK.  Burial to follow at Broken Bow Cemetery, Broken Bow, OK.

A Celebration of Life is set for Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at the Lake House Restaurant at 7510 East NW Hwy. Dallas, TX All friends and family are invited to attend.
