Theresa Stephens left her servant’s body to be face to face with her Savior on April 19, 2022 at her home in Broken Bow surrounded by her daughters.
Theresa was the first child born to James Houston and Tennie Mae (Morrow) Allen on August 4th, 1939 in Memphis, TN. She began cooking for her family at her father’s dairy farm at a very young age.
In 1949 Theresa and four of her siblings were placed in the St. Peters Orphanage in Memphis, TN due to dire family circumstances. While there she continued to help care for her siblings as well as others in the Orphanage. She began working in the kitchen there and soon after became a waitress.
Theresa has also worked as an insurance and real estate agent, cooked at Beavers Bend where she was awarded State of Oklahoma Employee of the year. But her service at First Baptist Church was most memorable to all. She served her Lord faithfully and tirelessly there and considered it her second home.
Her most heart felt role was that of a momma and especially granny; always there to meet any need they may have.
Greeting her in Heaven was her husband, Barney whom she married on September 3, 1955; her daughter, Amy Naquin; her brother, William Morton Allen; along with her parents and a joyful circle of family and friends.
Theresa leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Belinda and husband Robert Neal of The Colony, TX, Debra Stephens (Devontae) of Broken Bow, OK, Sandra and husband, Danny Keelin of Broken Bow, OK; grandchildren, Brandon Wise (Torie), Ashley Neal (Julius), Preston Stephens (Amanda), Trevor Naquin (Jessica), Caleb Stephens (Renea), Jonathan Smith (Samantha), Daniel Willis (Sara); eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Lottie Vest, Emily (Louis) Codemo, Barbara (David) Doles; brother, Jim (Sharon) Allen; a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Broken Bow with Pastor Pete Wilson officiating.
