Tommy Everett McCaig Obituary

Tommy Everett McCaig, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend from Broken Bow, entered into the presence of the Lord on December 26, 2025, at the age of 88 in Eagletown, Oklahoma. He was born on July 26, 1937, in Houston, Texas, and in late 1942, his family relocated to Ennis, Texas, which he would come to call home.

Following his high school graduation, Tommy began his career at Ennis Business Forms. He married Jo Ann Tillinghast on January 8, 1959, in Dallas, Texas, enjoying 62 years of marriage before her passing on March 2, 2021. Early in their marriage, they moved to Arlington, Texas, where Tommy continued his work at Royal Business Forms. While residing in Arlington, the family attended New York Avenue Baptist Church, and it was there, in April 1973, that Tommy felt called to the ministry. He was ordained on June 16, 1974, at the same church. That year, he and Jo Ann took a significant step of faith by moving to Broken Bow to serve the American Indian community. Their inaugural service was held on June 30, 1974, attended by 17 individuals. Throughout his ministry, Tommy preached at numerous churches until his health necessitated a change in 2024. At that time, he had served for 36 years as the minister of Eagletown Missionary Baptist Church in Eagletown, Oklahoma. When it became clear that his health would no longer permit him to preach, he emphasized the importance of having a church home, ultimately finding it at Lukfata Baptist Church during his final days.

Tommy has now been reunited with his beloved wife Jo Ann, as well as his parents, Meck Edward and Stella McCaig, and his brother, Ronald (Ronnie) McCaig, all of whom have passed on to eternity. His legacy of faith continues through his family, including his daughter, Melissa Taylor, and her husband, Bruce, of Montgomery, Texas, and his son, Troy McCaig, of Eagletown, Oklahoma. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Carissa Gonzales and Albi of Broken Bow, Vanessa Gray and Gregg of Krum, Texas, Brittani McCaig and Kelby McKinley of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Blake Taylor of New Mexico, Jeremy Taylor of Decatur, Texas, Maeson Parsons and Brent of Eagletown, Oklahoma, and Brittany Dunn and Aaron of Waco, Texas. Tommy was blessed with nine great-grandchildren: Case Carlisle, Kale Ginn, Cambri Ginn, Britton McKinley, Braxon McKinley, Dallas Parsons, Emma Paddack, Kayzlie Parsons, Luke Gonzales, and Brittlee McKinley. He is also survived by his sister, RoyAnn Farmer, and her husband, Kenneth, of Bardwell, Texas, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Lukfata Baptist Church in care of missions.

Visitation will be held 6-8 PM, Monday, December 29, 2025, Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services are set for 10:00 AM, December 30, 2025, at Lukfata Baptist Church with Rev. Chip Pinkerton officiating. Interment to follow at Broken Bow Cemetery, Broken Bow, OK.
