Vallie Mae (Wolfe) Gibson, 87, completed her earthly journey on August 14, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was one of nine children born to David D. Wolfe and Rosa (Kuykendall) Wolfe on February 6, 1935, in Chama, New Mexico. She grew up in Old Ringold. She played on the banks of Little River with her siblings and friends.
Vallie married Elton Gibson on October 16, 1954 in Turkey, TX and they shared 66 years together, their marriage was blessed with two children, Melvin and Judy.
She worked in the cotton patch in Texas, as a cook in the Glover School lunchroom, at the Kellwood Sewing Factory and as a clerk at Piggly Wiggly Supermarket. She was a dedicated pastor’s wife for over 15 years, she was well known for preparing the most delicious food for every occasion. She was a wonderful mother, Maw-maw and Nanny. She was an excellent home-maker and gardener. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elton of 66 years, three sisters, Roxie Morris, Alameda Morris and Geneva Watts; three brothers, Frank, Mack and Willie Wolfe; one grandson, Chad Gibson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Teresa Gibson, daughter and son-in-law Judy and Rodney Evans; grandson Lee and wife Shawna Evans; granddaughter Lisa and husband Luke Williams; great-grandchildren Koty, Addison, Kelby and David; brothers JD Wolfe and Johnny Wolfe; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service.
Funeral Services are set for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday afternoon at Victory Life Church, Broken Bow with Pastor Jimmy Jeter officiating. Interment will follow at Glover Cemetery.
