Velma “Toodie” Thomason Tyson passed from this life Monday, August 22, 2022 in Paris TX at the age 95. She was born the daughter of Miles and Rue Elsie (Harris) Culwell on September 21, 1926 in San Angelo, TX.

Velma was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Broken Bow. She loved her church and church family. She enjoyed square dancing, knitting, playing dominoes and card games. She took pride in her home, garden and flower beds and cherished time spent with her family. Her friends and family admired her sweet spirit, courage, grace and positive attitude and her love for others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Miles and Rue Culwell; her husbands, Bud (Dick) Thomason and Bob Tyson; son, Richard (Richie) Thomason and sisters, Maxine Faircloth and Miley Yarbourgh.

Velma is survived by her granddaughter Rebecca Elliott and husband, Bryden Elliott of Broken Bow; great-grandchildren, Charity Elliott, Sammi Elliott and Tripp Elliott all of Broken Bow; niece, Tona Wilson and husband, Van of Powderly, TX; great niece, Mandy Hale and husband, Alan of Paris, TX; great nephew, Russell Wilson of Paris, TX and multitude of friends.

Funeral Services are set for 2:00 p.m., Thursday afternoon at First United Methodist Church, Broken Bow, OK with Fred Fangio officiating. Interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Broken Bow.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 prior to the service at the Church.
