Vondal June Tucker

Vondal June Tucker was born July 1, 1930 in Chapel Hill, Arkansas to Frances Marion and Beulah Mae Metcalf, the youngest of eleven children.  After a period of declining health, she passed away peacefully at her home on February 16, 2018.  Vondal was a member of the Broken Bow Church of Christ. She married James T. Tucker on October 17, 1947. Together they operated Tucker Co. for over 50 years.

Humble, genuine and kind accurately describes Vondal. Her family was her passion. She and her husband traveled the world, but she was always most happy being at home amongst family and friends. In her younger years, Vondal was an avid bowler and enjoyed yard work and gardening. She was known for her ability to whip up a delicious meal in no time for family and guests. She was loved by many and will be missed.

Vondal was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James T. Tucker, her son James Michael "Mikey" Tucker, son-in-law Dr. Jim Guthery, siblings Bryon Metcalf, Hazel Walthall, Inez Miller, Delma Price, Wilma McKinley, Bob Whitfield, Jessie Mae Whitfield, Clemon, Lola and Mary Francis Metcalf. She is survived by her daughters  Kathy Guthery of Broken Bow, OK, Carolyn Tucker Bialick and husband Mark of Oklahoma City, OK; son James Talmadge Tucker of Broken Bow, OK; grandchildren Jim Guthery and wife Rhonda of Broken Bow, Dr. Brandon Guthery and wife Dr. Keely of McAlester, OK and Leslie Guthery of Oklahoma City, OK; great grandchildren Kaitey, Kollyn and Kaidyn Guthery of Broken Bow, OK; John, Noah and Michael Guthery of McAlester, OK; numerous nieces and nephews, cherished pets Annie, Stevie, Bobby Jo and Billy Jo; and many good friends. A special thank you to Louise Barnes, Elaine Burks, Thelma Kaniatobe, Marietha Bond, Sharon Logan, David Moyer and Good Journey Home Health.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma at 1:30 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 with Bro.James McRae.
