Williston Lee Wesley, affectionately known by all as, “W.L.,” passed from this life, October 1, 2020, in McAlester, OK, at the age of 88.
W.L. was born May 10, 1932, to Jackson Wesley and Clarissa (Caldwell) Wesley, in Sobol, OK.
He and Delia Carterby were united in marriage, July 19, 1951, in Honey Grove, TX, they enjoyed 58 years together before her passing in 2010.
W.L. was a member of the Big Lick United Methodist Church in the Divide Community and loved attending there when he could. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, and watch his grandkids play ball. He always supported his children and grandchildren in their various sport activities; whether it was by, cooking for and feeding the team, or just attending the games. W.L. was a kind man and a family man; he never met a stranger. He also loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and visiting with everyone at the Senior Citizens Center in Wright City.
W.L. was preceded in death by his wife, Delia Carterby Wesley; parents, Jackson and Clarissa Wesley; children, Williston Wesley, Jr., Bobby Wesley, and Charlene Columbus; brothers, Amos Wesley, Lenis Wesley, and Joe Wesley; sisters, Margaret Billy, Josephine Taylor, and Mary Neeley; grandson, Billy Joe Davis; daughter-in-law, Lisa Wesley; son-in-law, Harold Wright.
W.L. is survived by his children, Geraldine Wright, Bennie Wesley, Jimmie Wesley, Sr. and wife, Debbie, Janelle Wesley and Frank Tonihka, Jolene Davis and husband, Greene Dale, Edith Jones and husband, Danny, and Howard Wesley and wife, Lemanda; brother, Eugene Wesley; son-in-law, Johnny Columbus; daughter-in-law, Virginia Wesley; 43 grandchildren; as well as, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 9, 2020, at the Slater Memorial Cemetery in Wright City, with Rev. Tommy Wesley officiating.
