Walter Matthew Giles entered his heavenly home on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the age of 54. He was born March 16, 1969 in Amarillo, TX to parents, David Michael Giles, and Elva Faye (Gallinger) Giles.
Matt and Lisa Mowery were united in marriage on October 14, 2015 at Victory Life Church in Broken Bow, OK and shared eight years together before his passing.
Matt graduated eighth grade at Lukfata School, where he developed many lifelong friends. Matt was a 1987 graduate of Broken Bow High School where he later joined the school board. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and his son Michael, is following in his footsteps, also serving in the U.S. Navy, making his dad very proud of him. Matt had his wife’s best interest at heart, always supporting her. He loved Victory Life and his church family. He had a great love for Jesus and shared God’s love daily. He enjoyed playing his bass guitars and upright bass in church and with his family band, The Giles Family, loving all genres of music. Matt loved the culture of the 1950s, especially the vehicles, music, decor, diners and travelling Route 66. He thoroughly enjoyed his work restoring antique vehicles and teaching the younger generation the love of car restoration. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Matt was passionate about his family, spending time with them, and reminiscing about joyful memories.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother “Nanny” Mary Ola Dudley and his maternal grandfather, Vernon Ronald Gallinger.
Matt leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Lisa Giles of the home; parents David and Faye Giles of Wister, OK; children, Michael Wayne Giles, currently stationed in Pensacola, FL, Kobi and Logan Tomlinson and Cade Marshall Coleman all Broken Bow; brothers, Wendell and Tracea Giles of Shady Point, OK, Michael Vernon and Tisha Giles of Mead OK; sister, Jennifer Giles; granddaughters, Reese Ann Tomlinson, and Lennie Coleman; maternal grandmother, Josephine Rose McSpadden; a host of relatives, and a multitude of friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.
Funeral Services are set for 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 26, 2024, at Victory Life Church, Broken Bow, OK with Pastor Jimmy Jeter and Pastor Lynn Tomlinson officiating.
Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery
