Wanda Faye (Kemp) Bates passed from this life Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the age of 80. She was born April 17, 1942 in Honobia, OK to parents, Altus and Alta (Stovall) Kemp.
Wanda was a member of First Baptist Church of Broken Bow. She worked for the Broken Bow School District and owned and operated the D and D grocery store for fifteen years until retirement. Her family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and mowing the yard. She loved being involved with Little League football and served as gatekeeper for twelve years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Altus and Alta Kemp and husband, Henry Bates.
Wanda is survived by her son, Dennis Bates of Broken Bow; daughter, Denise Wake and husband, Dustin of Austin, TX and a bonus daughter, Tena Hutchison of Round Rock, TX; sister, Vonna Jewell and husband, Bill of Broken Bow; grandchildren, Kevin Bates of Idabel, Emily Wake of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren, Karson Bates and Khloe Bates both of Valliant; a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.
Funeral Services are set for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Broken Bow with Pastor Clark Wrather and Pastor Pete Wilson officiating. Interment to follow at Bethel Cemetery, Bethel, OK.
