Wren McGovern Davis was born on December 4th, 1937, in Idabel, Oklahoma to James Bernard McGovern and Maisy Ethel (Bright) McGovern.  She passed away in her sleep the morning of July 7th, 2026. 

Wren grew up in the Oak Hill neighborhood of Mc Curtain County, along with her seven brothers and sisters, Priscilla, Zeda, Dalworth, James Jr., Bill, Carol and Don – all of whom predeceased her.  Upon graduating from the 8th grade, she attended Broken Bow High School where she was a proud student athlete and the first of her siblings to graduate with a high school diploma. Wren went on to achieve both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education, setting the course for her lifetime occupation as an educator. 

After graduating college, Wren worked briefly for Texas Instruments and then transitioned into public education.  She taught in several Texas school districts before moving back to the Broken Bow area, along with her husband and children in 1972.  For the remainder of her career, Wren worked as an educator in the Broken Bow School system, teaching everything from first grade through twelfth grade students over the years.  Wren was a fierce believer in the power of education.  She strongly believed that education was a tool that could be used to help individuals, communities and societies become better, stronger and wiser.  Dedicating her life to that pursuit was both a passion and a privilege.  Even after she retired, Wren spent countless hours volunteering in the school system and in various educational charities with the fervent hope that her efforts would help her community and its members.

Wren is survived by her loving spouse of over 60 years, Jerry Allen Davis as well as her children Ronda (Bill) Bowie, Laurie (Randy) McDaniel, Steve (Tammy) Davis and Katherine (Craig) Davis and her bonus child Randee (Roger) McDaniel.  Also left to honor her memory are her grandchildren Cannon Davis, Jessica (Casey) Spillman, Cera Callahan, Cody McDaniel and Jonathan Davis as well as her great grandchildren, Kobe Davis, Clara Spillman, Ava Davis and Miles Spillman.  She is predeceased by her parents, her siblings and her beloved grandson Christopher Akguenlue.

Visitation will be held 5-7 PM, Saturday, July 11, 2026, Bunch – Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services are set for 2 PM, Sunday, July 12, 2026, Bunch – Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment to follow at Watson Memorial Cemetery, Oakhill Community.
